Introduction

Below is another Sunday Survey summary edition of the data collected in 2023. This time it analyzes some key factors for many purchasing home gym equipment like product origin, support for original creator, community support, and importance of reviews.

Community Support is important to those answering the survey questions.

71% are more likely to buy something from gym equipment companies that support the “home gym community.”

While these are still both important issues for many, 52% would rather see “community involvement” vs. 48% “Made in Your Country.”

“Made in Your Country” is not usually the #1 priority for most buyers

While buying from your Country is a sign of pride for many, only 37% say they even typically look to see Many people feel proud to buy products made in their own country, but surprisingly, only 37% actually check the country of origin before purchasing.

69% vote “Neutral” or “Not Important” when asked about the importance of buying gym equipment made in your Country. 28% said buying gym equipment made in their country was important to them, but only 4% voted “almost essential.” The 44% “Not Important” votes were greater than those two combined. About 25% voted “neutral.”

For the most part, we have seen the overall level of importance drop over the last few years.

About 40% own at least half of their gym equipment from items made in their Country. In general, there is a good mix of made-in-your-country equipment and not.

Support for the original creator of the product is a bit more important to buyers than where product is made, but not essential to the majority.

We also asked about the importance of buying gym equipment from the “original creator.” While the “not important votes” still outweighed the important/almost essential votes, buying from the “Original Creator” was a bit more critical.

About 41% say they are less likely to buy from companies that knock of other companies with their products.

Reviews are very important in the home gym buying process.

Nearly 70% of people typically read “expert reviews” before most gym equipment purchases.

5 Consumer Reviews are seen as more important than 2 “Expert Reviews by 52%.

66% have made a purchase based on a recommendation from a home gym influencer & 35% have made a purchase based on a recommendation from a friend or family member. Compared to 2021, “home gym influencer” votes are up 22%, while friends/family votes are down 16%.
