One a Day Recap
Some common advice from veteran home gym owners is to buy “once cry once” on many of the primary pieces of gym equipment like a bench, squat rack, and barbell. However, they also mention that this is not as important on “accessory type” objects. For those building out their home gym one step at a time and on a tight budget, it’s recommended to save where you can. Certain items will “just get the job done,” and there is no need to get something fancy. This Portable Plate and Barbell Storage Tree is an example of that, which will do a fine job storing your weight plates and barbells. This storage can handle a heavy load, doesn’t take up a ton of footprint, no need to drill into the wall, portable, and one of the lower-cost options out there. So if you’ve got plates lying around, this is definitely an option to consider.
The PR-1100 is probably the best power rack that you’ll find in this price range. With a number of rack attachments, the ability to handle more weight than you’d expect, and at least 1/3 as cheap as a 3×3 rack, this will absolutely get the job done for most home gym owners. It’s definitely a rack that will last a very long time and something you can build around.
The I Sell Fitness Squat Bar is a beast of a bar, but the overall quality is average. It includes specs similar to other pricer options but also some disappointing imperfections. These could easily be overlooked at the old price, but the price is almost 50% higher and priced much closer to its competition than when this bar was purchased for review last year.
The TANK M1 Push Sled is a dream sled for many home gym owners. It’s one of the more impressive cardio machines available, and the design is well thought out. In addition, it’s quiet, easy to store, has several different push/pull options, and would add variety to your typical cardio workouts. Of course, it does come at a premium price, and space to push is needed, but it does have the ability to add another dynamic to your (maybe boring) cardio workouts at home.
