2023 Bench Data

Introduction

Below is a compilation of bench data from the Sunday surveys in 2024.

This is the third category summary as we wrap up the year (barbell data and squat rack data).

The Data

Only 11% expect to pay over $500 for an adjustable bench.

  • The sweet spot is between $300 and $400 with 44% of the total votes.
  • In 2022, 46% said they expected to pay between $150 and $250, so expectations are going up.

Nearly 42% own multiple benches

  • 55% own one bench
  • In a separate poll (months later), 41% said that they see the need to own 2 benches within their home gym.

31% place high importance on vertical storage

Ideal bench width spread out with many not having a preference

Most would be willing to pay a little bit more if it was “Made in America”

The results are below for when asked: “Let’s just say there are two benches that are the exact same, but one is made in America, but the other is not. How much more are you willing to pay for the one made in America (or whatever country you are from)? The starting price is $200.”

46% are willing to pay more for a bench that declines.

68% say REP makes the best benches for home gym.

80% say that an adjustable bench covers all of their home gym benching needs.

40% believe the color of their bench matters, and 49% are willing to pay a little more for the right bench color.

Nearly half are benching within a power rack.
