REP drops Open Trap Bar
The REP Open Trap Bar is arguably the most anticipated product of 2022 and it’s finally been dropped.
Some of the top features include:
- It’s Balanced, which is a better experience than having the back side of the open trap bar on the ground to start.
- Removable Handles with a thumbscrew.
- Premium Finishes with hard chrome sleeves and matte black powder coat
- Round Tubing & Knurled Center for optimal pressing and squatting use.
- Deadlift Jack for easy loading/unloading.
- Rackable. This makes it easier to set up for those pressing, squatting, shrugging, etc.
In general, it seems like a bar that takes all of the qualities from other top open trap bars and morphs them into one.
Plus, the price is reasonable at $399. For reference that is about half the price of Kabuki’s Open Trap Bar.
The only disappointment seems to be that it is another long wait with a pre-order. You likely won’t receive it until October or November.
Nevertheless, it will likely sell out soon, so if you want one, you should probably grab it soon.

Is The Used Marketplace for Gym Equipment Dead Righthe t Now?
We asked. You answered with a lot of “Yes, it’s dead” responses. Only a few out of 60+ said it was not.
A few of the notable and well thought out responses included:

I’ve definitely seen a huge slow down in being able to sell stuff. Likely due to gas prices and the economy. Lower prices in general too compared to what things were selling for over the last two years.

Never dead. Sometimes more difficult. It really depends on your area. But right now in my area I see three post-gym shut down things: 1. People who bought a lot of brand new equipment to setup a home gym and have decided to go back to the commercial gym are selling their stuff, sometimes at a decent price 2. People who bought old rusty weights just to get by during gym shut down held onto them initially but are now cleaning out the basement, great deals on vintage weights! 3. People who bought stuff at inflated cost, new and/or rusty, are trying to sell at those same inflated prices and their listings are sitting forever because no one wants to buy it at those prices

Dead by me in Mass. Nothing exciting being listed and what I have for sale is sitting for months despite being wayyy less than what sold even 6 months ago.

Used market is high, but it’s going to look like a BARGAIN in about 6 months. Fewer people willing to travel so people willing to ship or deliver are going to get the advantage. Prices aren’t COVID high but they’re going to climb through this inflationary period like everything else.
Makes me wonder if people are holding onto the good stuff, we are still selling a ton to home gyms, I think the market is still strong, so maybe people are keeping what they have instead of offloading.

Dead around me for the most part. None of my stuff is selling right now and I’m not seeing any deals. People are saving instead of spending right now.
REP SSB vs. Titan (Made in USA) SSB
Voting on this Instagram post, and the voting was pretty close, but the REP SSB received 55% of the votes.
Many responses said that they need to see a “real-life comparison though.
Both are already of of stock, but REP’s just opened back up for pre-order (noticed as I was proofreading this email).
With that being said, here are the primary differences we see.
- Titan’s is manufactured in the USA while REP’s is an import.
- REP includes knurled handles vs. “rubber honeycomb” for Titan
- REP includes a 30-degree camber vs. Titan’s 20-degr something that will definitely need to be tested to see which is optimal.
- REP’s cost is currently $30 higher, but Titan has revealed that $299 is just the intro price.
Other Stuff to Check Out
Bells of Steel is adding 3×3 racks. A preview is in this teaser.
Made in USA Equilizer Plates are coming from REP.
Ghost Combo Rack HD and Ghost Combo Comp PR are now live on Rogue’s website.
The Last Edition (View It)
- The Made in USA SSB that Titan has been teasing recently is now available and the price did not change!
- The Kabuki Kadillac Bar (with knurled handles) is officially available from Rogue. Last week, we predicted the cost would be much higher (you know, with knurled handles) but that is not the case.
- From the data, the Lat Pulldown/Low Row Machine from Bells of Steel was the most popular product released in Q2.
- AbMat launches the Barbell Bomb which is a new take on the portable landmine. At just $45 and weighing only 4 ounces, it seems like a versatile and high value option to add to the home gym. @nicelikemike__ took over the GGE Instagram page to film @facegainz test the weight capacity of the GIANT Northland Open Trap Bar, which was 800 lbs.He dominated and the bar survived.
- Bridge Built is raffling off this beauty below to celebrate America’s independence (more info here).
The First Posts of @garagegymexperiment
In the most recent Sunday Survey, we saw that 80% spent over $1,000 to start their home gym.
Well, that was not the case for myself and the @garagegymexperiment channel.
Here is the very first post.
and here are the following (check out those filters). I remember thinking these looked good.
First barbell and plates… Those are gone, but that’s still one of my go to 🍻.
Check out that smooth marketing.
