Titan Safety Spotter Arms for your 2×2″ Rack

Introduction

For this review, we are covering the Safety Spotter Arms from Titan from their T2 style rack. Don’t have this rack? Good news! The T2 attachments will fit your 2×2″ style rack with 1″ holes (with some minor exceptions which we will discuss below). Spotter arms are ideal for lifting outside the rack, and they are just one more addition you can add to your home gym centerpiece (your power rack). The safety spotter arms are built well, and you get what you ask for. Let’s get into the details.

T2 Attachments on Other Racks

Titan uses a pin safety for some of their rack attachments. If your rack does not use the same 2″ hole spacing, odds are you will not be able to use the pin safeties. Most of these attachments will still work, but you won’t have the added safety measures. The spotter arms do use a linchpin safety. Read below to see how they work with other racks.

The Spotter Arms

These spotter arms come with a linchpin safety that is meant for a rack with 2″ hole spacing. If you are using this attachment with a rack that has different hole spacing, you may not be able to use the safety pins (as mentioned above). Without the safety pins, the attachment still works as advertised. You would just need to use cation shifting a heavily loaded barbell while it is resting on the spotter arms.

The holes for the linchpin safety do not line up on racks with 3″ hole spacing, but the attachments still function.

The spotter arms fit into your rack with 1″ hardware. They go in sideways and rotate to lock into place. There is a little play (even on the T2) where you can wiggle the spotter arms up and down, but for their purpose this is not an issue.

A little ‘play’ exists, but does not effect the function of the arms.

The spotter arms give you a flat surface length of 16.5″. The safety surface is lined with UHMW plastic. Where the arms are secure into the rack, there 3 points of contact with UHMW plastic to avoid metal on metal rubbing.

Each arm weighs around 11 pounds, and they are made from 11 gauge steel.

The spotter arms are rated for 800 lbs.

Conclusion

Whether you have the Titan T2 rack, or you have something like a REP 1000 rack (which does not offer spotter arms) this attachment will work for you. The arms cost $90 and give you the option to safely lift outside the rack. These spotter arms work great for 4-post racks, but if you plan on using a half rack or lifting with a squat rack something like this becomes almost essential. These are a good item, even better when you consider the cost.
