Rex Series Half Rack from Raptor Fitness

The Rex Series Half Rack from Raptor Fitness is extremely stout and will be able to handle some of the strongest people in the world. This rack utilizes 3″x3″ 11 gauge steel throughout and is absolutely rock solid. This half rack is as stable as a power rack, but will not take up quite as much space. In addition, you don’t have to deal with moving a bar in and out of the power rack, which can be a hassle. Lastly, it’s priced extremely reasonably.

Who is this for?

  • Someone that is looking for the convenience of a half rack. With a rack like this, it’s easy to navigate and no need to continue to take a bar in and out of a power rack.
  • The half-rack does save space, but it’s not quite as versatile as many of the power rack options where you have the ability to add in a lat-pull or belt squat option.
  • A person that appreciates that this rack was 100% Made in the USA.
  • This rack should last for 100 years. It’s built extremely well. It’s also priced fairly, so the overall value is very high. You are getting a lot of bang for your buck with this rack.

The Specs and Other Details

  • This rack starts out at $575. The similar option for Rogue (HR-2 Half Rack) starts out at $655.
  • The 4 x 4-foot overall footprint uses 3 x 3 inch 11 gauge steel and serves as a solid foundation, which is extremely stable. Within this area, there is plenty of space to bench press, squat, or any other main lift. Most adjustable benches will fit fine as well.
  • It’s also stable enough to do kipping pull-ups or toes to bar. You may need to add weights to the front to avoid a little movement of the rack, but you’ll never fear that it is going to actually tip. Leaving the spotter arms on actually help to eliminate the slight wobble as well.

  • For an additional price, you do have the ability to add on spotter arms, plate storage pins, a battle rope anchor, and landmines. In addition, the 5/8″ holes make it compatible with any Monster Lite attachment from the Rogue. For example, you’ll notice the spotter arms in the picture below are from Rogue.
  • With spotter arms, just rack should be just about as safe as a power rack.
  • There are not a lot of negatives to this rack. One would be that shipping is pricey dependant on where you live. The farther away you are from Denver, the more likely it will be more costly. It will also take 15 to 30 business days to ship.

In the end, this is a rack as tough as it gets. It’s tough to find much to complain about and it’s just extremely sturdy. It will last a lifetime. The half-rack will save you some space and is also cheaper than a full power rack with similar specs.
