JBL Flip 4 Review

One of the benefits of working out in a home gym is blasting your own music rather than being at the mercy of whatever the gym will play. In fact, it’s too not uncommon for someone to mention this as their favorite benefit of owning their own setup.

The JBL Flip 4 is versatile, simple to use, can BOOM, and is one of the most recommended speakers by other home gym owners. For those not wanting to spend $100+ on a speaker, this is seemingly as good as it gets.

In a home gym, not only do you get to choose what’s being played but also the volume! For its size, this speaker packs a nice punch! For example, you’ll have no issues continuing to listen to music while on the windy Echo Bike. The bass isn’t too intense, so it will need to be a full blast to get the neighbor’s attention. There are no issues of crackling or diminishing clearness as the volume raises.

The setup and overall usage are straightforward. It’s easy to connect a phone or tablet, and instructions are straightforward, and a charging cable is included. It takes just a minute for even a meathead to figure everything out.

Furthermore, since it’s portable and includes long battery life, no matter where the workout is, it can be easily transported. It weighs just over a pound and can be carried by a young child. Obviously, it can be used outside of the home gym so take it outside, to the kitchen, vacation, the pool, etc.

Other helpful info includes:

  • It takes 3.5 hours to charge for 12 hours of consistent playtime.
  • The range is solid. The connection seems to start being lost around 75 feet away.
  • It shuts off automatically if not in use, protecting battery life.
  • It’s waterproof with a 3.3 maximum depth of water resistance.
  • There is no microphone, so you’re not able to talk on the phone to someone. It will play through the device, but you have to have your phone nearby actually to talk.
  • One step up is the JBL 5, which has a few extra benefits, but the extra $40 may hold some back.
  • 7 different colors are available.

In the end, it is going to be tough to find a better option for your home gym for less than $79.95 that combines this sound quality, reliability, portability, and overall convenience. The JBL would make for a budget-friendly audio option that can be used for so much more.
