Adroit Landmine Review

Introduction

Landmines are a tool that can benefit many home gym owners. They take up very little space and provide many different movements that cannot be accomplished with a barbell and some plates (that many already have) by themselves. It’s also one of the more popular rack attachments available. In fact, in a January 2021 Sunday Survey, it beat out plate storage, dip attachment, and wall ball target in a battle of “similarly priced” attachments.

The Adroit landmine is likely the best landmine that can be mounted today. It features some features that most do not have that make it extremely quiet, smooth, and easy on your barbell. Plus, this American-made product is priced appropriately.

The Swivel

This unique tool utilizes a PTFE-lined spherical rod end that creates an extremely fluid experience. When in use, horizontal and vertical movement is silky smooth.

Other landmines can be a bit awkward to operate, but they allow for 180 degrees of movement, whereas the Adroit landmine only allows for 65 degrees. While in use, I’ve never wished that it could perform a higher range of motion, though. It’s a trade-off that many would make, especially after using how smooth this operates.

The Sleeve

Another differentiator is the sleeve. It uses a polycarbonate liner that protects the sleeves, whereas most do not use a material that would protect the barbell. Therefore, you don’t have to fear that you’ll scratch up your barbell.

The landmine does not use any clasp or bolt to help secure the bar. Do not worry, though. The barbell stays locked in without. While it may stray from the very back of the sleeve, the length is long enough to where it is never going to fall off or get anywhere near the end.

This was after doing several sets of Clean and Jerks with a Viking Press.

Other Notes

  • The holes to mount are 6″ apart and this attachment can be used on racks with 5/8″ or 1″ holes. You also have the ability to mount it to the wall with 1/2″ lag screws. The specific hardware you need is sent with, so you’ll need to select the one you plan to use when checking out.

  • It takes just a few minutes to mount or disassemble. Therefore, while it’s not as easy to take off as most attachments, the process to remove is not so difficult that wherever you place it is permanent.
  • It’s priced at $129.99, which is priced the same as the Rogue Monster Landmine 2.0, which doesn’t include all of the unique features of the Adroit, but does have a quicker release option. You can also pick up a more budget friendly option for about $90 (without shipping) from somewhere like REP Fitness. This is your typical landmine you’ll find offered for most racks. It does the job, but is not quite as smooth as the Adroit.

  • Lastly, it’s a really good looking landmine. It’s powdercoated in matte stealth charcoal and includes a laser cut logo.

Conclusion

In the end, it’s not difficult to say this is the best rack-mounted landmine available today, and it’s priced reasonably. It’s incredibly smooth and will keep your barbell safe from harm. Plus, it’s made in America. This option is highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their landmine setup or add this versatile item to their home gym.
