Introduction
Earlier this year, we ran a poll asking: What dumbbell option best fits your budget and space? Adjustable dumbbells were the clear winner, taking 55% of the votes compared to traditional (38%), loadable (4%), and 2% unsure. Interest in adjustables has only grown as companies continue to refine their designs—Nuobells helped kick things off, and REP’s launch of the PEPPINs sent demand through the roof.
Of course, anyone who trains with dumbbells knows they’re best kept on stands, not the floor. For a while, options were limited—REP was slow to release theirs, which opened the door for companies like Black Widow and others to step in.
What’s New?
Now, Synergy Custom Fitness has entered the mix with their own adjustable dumbbell rack. I’m currently using their adjustable storage arms, which can mount to any 3×3 rack with 1-inch holes. They also offer three standalone setups – Delta, Alpha, and Bravo – each built from 3×3 steel, set at different heights, and compatible with other attachments.
My Impressions
I’ve got mine mounted to the back of a 4-post power rack and use it to store my Trulap Adjustable Dumbbells. A few things stand out:
- It’s built like a tank. While there’s no listed weight capacity, it feels rock solid and confidence-inspiring. I’ve jumped on mine with no budge. Fair warning though—it’s heavy, and setting it up solo can be a challenge. I’d recommend having a buddy help.
- It’s universal. Designed to work with pretty much any adjustable dumbbell on the market. Plate size: 9″ W x 21″ D.
- It’s height adjustable. Since it mounts to a 3×3 post, you can set the height exactly where you want it. The weight should be easy to grab and also load back in.
- Angle customizable. You can angle the arms wider or keep them tight depending on your setup. I prefer the wider angle—it makes stepping in to grab dumbbells much easier.
- Color options. Available in 11 different colors at no extra cost, so you can match your rack or add a splash of personality to your setup.
It’s also important to point out that this is not a budget option. The rack attachment starts at $399, and the full standalone setups run even higher. But this is a Made in America product built from heavy-duty steel that will quite literally last a lifetime. If you’re looking for the cheapest solution, this isn’t it—but if you want a premium, bombproof setup that elevates your dumbbell storage, Synergy nailed it.
Who Should Consider This Option
This setup is best for home gym owners who:
- Already own or plan to invest in premium adjustable dumbbells and want storage to match their quality.
- Care about long-term durability and prefer American-made steel over cheaper imports.
- Want a rack or attachment that integrates seamlessly with existing 3×3 equipment.
- Value customization—whether that’s setting the perfect height, adjusting the arm angles, or picking from 11 different color options to match their gym.
If you’re on a tight budget, you’ll likely want to look elsewhere. But if you see your gym as a long-term investment and want storage that’s as serious as your training, this is the kind of piece you buy once and never worry about again.
