Introduction
Below is a look at a relatively random grouping of questions that have been asked in the past.
Highlights include:
- The right bench color is an upgradeable feature for about half.
- Bench Attachments seem to be relatively niche, but I have a feeling it is a very important feature for those are interested.
- Nearly 3/4 have been “influenced.”
- REP seems to still be the top bench choice, but competition seems to be coming in.
- Rogue seems to still be the top barbell choice, but competition also seems to be coming in.
Below is a look at ALL survey results, which we’ll discuss on the next episode of The Garage Gym Experiment Podcast.
Nearly half are willing to pay a little more for the right bench color. That is up over 8% points from 2023.
PS – 58% said they’d be willing to pay a bit more for the right power rack color in the most recent survey results.

About 18% have a “high interest” in “bench attachments” and another 36% voting “medium.”

About 70% have made a purchace based off of a recommendation from a “Home Gym Influencer.” 34% because of a friend or family member.
(Very little change from 2023 BTW).

Nearly half have sold or bought gym equipment on the marketplace in the past year. A bit more did sell vs. buy.

Chalk continues to be used by about half in the home gym after a decent drop in 2022.

About 15% are using smelling salts in their home gym.

78% say that space is a bigger issue than cost when adding to the home gym. This % continues to go up slightly year over year – since 2023.

58% say REP makes the best benches for the home. Down slightly each year since 2023.

59% say Rogue makes the best barbells for home gyms. Down 8% points since 2025.

About 52% watch equipment reviews weekly, nearly 2.5x more than those that “read reviews” weekly.

When comparing to 2023, a bit more are watching equipment reviews weekly. A bit less are reading equipment reviews weekly.
