Below is a look at survey results from yesterday with some of them including comparisons to previous years.
Some of the key takeaways I took were:
- The majority is not interested in buying gym equipment from Alibaba.
- More are interested in building a collection of cable attachments over barbells. I do not think that was the case a few years back.
- The majority do not have a huge interest in tech within their home gym, but more are certainly taking notice and the overall interest is increasing.
Less than a quarter would definitely consider buying gym equipment from Alibaba.

With 44% of the votes, the most popular “primary barbell” of choice is a Power Bar in the home gym. This is about the same as what we saw last year.

More are interested in building a collection of cable attachments over barbells.

Attached to the rack functional trainer is more ideal than standalone for the majority within their current home gym.

Nearly half are “neutral” about tech entering the home gym space. There are more “fans” of it than those that say “keep me away.”

Interest in tech entering the home gym space still is not overwhelming, but it is getting progressively higher year over year.

About 43% use technology to improve their fitness.

In 2024, 47% said they used technology to improve their fitness, so that number is actually down.

40% say a piece of fitness technology has caught their attention in 2025.

The same question regarding a tech product capturing their attention was asked in 2024 and only 23% voted “yes.” That’s 17% lower than last year – a big change.

49% think a company like REP or Rogue (who are currently on top) need to implement great technology into some products to still be on top in 10 years.

Only 40% voted “Yes” in 2024, which is also a pretty substantial change.
