August 2024 – New Home Gym Products

Introduction

Below is a look at most of the product releases we saw for the home gym in August 2024.

To follow along each week, make sure you are subscribed to Knurled News, where this info is shared on a weekly basis.

Rogue Rower

Rogue continues to pump out new products in 2024; their latest release is this rower. It is priced extremely competitively and includes impressive features.

Some highlights include:

  • $895 price with free shipping, several hundred dollars cheaper than a Concept2 with shipping costs included. It is $50 more than the current price of the Xebex Air Rower 2.0.
  • Oversized turf tires should allow this to be moved exceptionally easily.
  • Folds up for storage
  • Patent pending quick-release foot straps, which eliminate the pain of sliding the buckle.
  • LCD Console with Bluetooth and ANT+ compatibility

Hyper Pro

One of the most popular and versatile machines in the home gym scene just got an upgrade.

The Hyper Pro from Freak Athlete now includes XL Rollers, a more solid base, firmer padding, and 14 levels of incline.

For anyone unaware, this tool can be altered in a number of ways so that you can perform Nordic Curls, Back Extension, GHD, Reverse Hyper, Sit-Up, Hip Thrust, Leg Extension, Hamstring Curl, and Upper Body movements (new).

I think this looks like an absolute winner – check it out.

Bells of Steel Cable Crossover

I’m a fan of both the plate-loaded and selectorized cable tower options based on their overall value and versatility.

That said, Bells of Steel is adding several cable crossover options to its popular single-stack cable tower options.

This would add considerable versatility and function to any gym, but you’ll need about 12 feet of space.

Nevertheless, those options include:

  • Plate Loaded: For just over $1k, you can add a plate loaded option.
  • Selectorized: This is about 2.5x the price of the option above but will be much more convenient to use.
  • Cable Crossover Converter: If you have a single tower, you can easily expand your setup by purchasing a converter and another tower to create a full set. It’s also nice to know that you can continue to build off of it if you just buy a single tower.

Arcadia™ Max Functional Trainer from REP

The Arcadia Max Functional Trainers are an upgrade to the FT 5000 model & beefier than the new Arcadia. The most notable specs and details include:

  • 87” Tall, 75.5” Wide, and 44” Deep.
  • Dual 220 lbs weight stacks with 2:1 ratio.
    • Can upgrade to 270 lbs.
    • Can add even more resistance with integrated band pegs (max resistance of 540 lbs).
  • Aluminum Pulleys included
  • Two fully knurled D-Handles are included
  • Built-in (Wall Control Style) Pegboard to store attachments on.
  • “Multiple design touches like our unique patented trolly style, a durable metallic powdercoat, oversized pop-pins,” etc

Hydra Bumper Plate Tree Builder

With the Hydra Bumper Plate Tree, you have the ability to customize this storage option with different upright heights, specific numbers of barbell holders, five different plate storage options, utility hooks, and caster wheels.

Therefore, you can keep it pretty tight or load it up (like below). You’ll also have the ability to change it up over time.

The build-out process is pretty fun, and I’m digging this option from BOS – check it out.

Young Buck Collection from Bridge Built

Today, Bridge Built introduced the Young Buck Collection—a bench and rack designed with children in mind. The idea behind this is to combine fun, safety, and fitness. This collection aims to engage young athletes with tools suited to their needs and ultimately encourage an active and healthy lifestyle at a young age.

GIANT Northland Open Trap Hex Bar with 9” Sleeves

The Giant Open Trap Bar has been widely regarded as the best value trap bar on the market.

A certain type of person may not want this option, though, because it is too cumbersome.

However, Giant has introduced an option with 9” sleeves, which will allow for an easier-to-wield around open trap bar. It will also take up less space.

I really like this option for anyone who does not ever plan on utilizing more than 9” of a barbell sleeve (more than 495 lbs with traditional iron plates).

Aviron Fit Bike

This is the Peloton Bike on Steroids.

The Aviron Fit Bike is a versatile indoor cycling experience that combines immersive gaming with a challenging workout.

They’ve taken much of their innovative rowers, which I was able to try at IHRSA (very impressive), and added them to a bike.

Here are some key features of this new stationary bike.

  • Game-Driven Workouts: Engaging workouts that feel more like playing a game than exercising.
  • Advanced Resistance: 160 levels of adjustable electromagnetic resistance provide a smooth and challenging ride.
  • Freewheel Design: Mimics road cycling for a more natural feel.
  • Ergonomic Design: Customizable seat and handlebars for maximum comfort.
  • Interactive Screen: A vibrant HD touchscreen for navigating workouts, adjusting resistance, and more.
  • Community Features: Connect with other riders, track your progress, and earn badges.

Here’s a quick comparison to a few of the other bike + membership options.

Rogue Multi-Use Rack Roller

The multi-rack roller is a leg roller but is meant to be attached to the full rack.

It uses a 6” diameter revolving pad that can be used to help keep knees down during pulldowns, hip thrusts, as a leg roller, and much more with some more creativity.

I like the idea of using this for hip thrusts.

I can’t tell if this is more convenient than using two-leg rollers but it will allow you to use it within the center of the rack instead of the edges for certain movements.

Leg Curl/Leg Extension Add-On from PRx

A little over a year ago, PRx released the Axis Pad, and now have their first add-on to it – the Leg Curl/Leg Extension.

If it is in the correct location, you can use it as a weight horn or connect it to a pulley.

The price of the Axis Pad + Leg Curl/Extension is about the same price as The Isolator from Bulletproof Fitness.

I was able to check it out in my recent trip to Fargo.

The leg movements felt about as effective as the Isolator when using the plate-loaded option, but when attached to a pulley system, you could definitely feel tension from the beginning of the movement, which was a great benefit.

They are both solid rack-mounted options, but this is one to consider if you would rather have the pad as a secondary option compared to all of the other configurations you can use with The Isolator.

Joe Rogan Kettlebell

Onnit has partnered with sculptor Christopher Genovese to create a unique kettlebell modeled after Joe Rogan.

You can’t just buy this kettlebell though, you have to enter a drawing and hope you get an opportunity.

Onnit plans to donate $100k to Fight For The Forgotten, a non-profit founded by MMA fighter Justen Wren, supporting displaced indigenous people in Africa.

The Iron 2 from Oak Club

This mini hoop from Oak Club is designed to mount to your power rack!

Some details from include:

  • 9-inch mini hoop, 18 x 11.5 inch backboard
  • mountable on vertical or horizontal rack tubes
  • 4.5 inch mini inflatable ball
  • compatible with 3 inch x 3 inch rack posts with 1 or 5/8 inch holes.
  • MagPin or hitch pins are necessary and sold separately.

American Barbell Weighted Vest

This weighted vest is crafted from durable nylon Cordura and cushioned with soft neoprene for comfort. Its adjustable weight plates allow you to customize the weight used. The secure Velcro straps should enable a pretty stable fit during any exercise.

It’s available in 20 or 40-lb increments and uses “removable rubber-wrapped steel” as the weight.

That said, the Rogue Echo Weight Vest (while more expensive) appears to be much more compact and functional than this new option from American Barbell.

Barbell Resistance Band Hooks from Clench Fitness

This new tool from Clench allows users to transform an Olympic-style barbell into a resistance band bar by sliding the hook onto the end, adding a barbell clamp, and attaching a resistance band to the Carabiner.

The hook can accommodate bands up to 4 inches wide and provides clearance between the Carabiner and plates to prevent band-plate contact. Designed with high-quality materials, including an anodized aluminum Carabiner and a carbon steel, zinc-plated adapter collar, the hook is versatile, durable, and corrosion-resistant.

These are currently up for pre-orders with delivery being late August/early September.
