Introduction

For this survey, we had 14 different “issues” that home gym owners face, and you simply needed to say whether it was a large, medium, minor, or no issue at all.

This is a survey that is accomplished each year, and the number one “issue” did change!

Last year, the “price of obtaining more equipment” was the top issue, but it has been narrowly beaten out by “lack of space for a home gym.”

The difference was not too much between them, but they were easily the top “home gym issues.”

Below is a chart comparing all issues & below is a closer breakdown by groupings.

Biggest Issues

As you can see in the numbers below, the lack of space for a home gym and the price of obtaining more equipment is at least a “medium issue” for about 2/3 of answering these questions. That’s a lot!

As mentioned above, these are easily the two biggest issues from these survey results.

Temperature control comes in as the #3 issue, but only a combined 37% label it as at least a “medium issue.”

Middle Ranked Issues

Below is a list of “issues” that had at least a 20% rate as “medium issues.”

Some general notes here are:

  • Most believe that the amount of equipment they own is not a large issue.
  • Ceiling height is a large issue for 11% of those responding. These are most likely those working out in their basements.
  • In this poll and with other feedback, most are not easily distracted during their home gym workouts.

Small Issues

Noise and quality of equipment are at least a “medium issue” for less than 20%.

Smallest Issues

Only between one and two percent thought these were “large issues.”

  • Warming up for home workouts
  • Finishing workouts at home
  • Equipment again quickly
  • Working out safely.

Changes vs. 2023

As you can see, there really wasn’t too much change in the rankings from 2023 to 2024.

Only two “flip-flops” occurred, but number 1 & 2 just so happened to be one of them.

Quotes from the Community

In addition, on this Instagram post, many echoed what the data showed, but another interesting theme was people discussing the amount of set-up time hacks or certain pieces of equipment take.
