Introduction
Last week, the data showed us that:
- The color of your bench matters to nearly half.
- Rack-attached functional trainers & lat/low rows are of more interest than standalone options.
- Interest in aggressively knurled barbells is on the rise.
Below is a look at all the results.
40% say that the color of their bench matters & 49% are willing to pay a little more for the right bench color.
- These questions came to mind after Titan released their new adjustable bench with a single color & I was curious to see how important it was that someone like REP offered so many color options for their benches. It turns out that it is a big deal to a fair amount.
- To compare, 47% said the color of their power rack matters & 26% for the barbell in previous polls.
More want their functional trainers and lat/low row’s attached to the rack as opposed to being a standalone unit.
- With space being on top of mind, 42% chose a functional trainer option attached to the rack vs. 40% standalone. About 17% have no interest in a functional trainer within their home gym.
- The gap was even larger with the lat/low row. 53% went with the lat/low row attached to the rack with just 38% wanting standalone options. Only 9% have no interest for something like this in their home gym.
Functional Trainer | Lat/Low Row | |
Attached to rack | 42% | 53% |
Standalone | 40% | 38% |
Not interested in either | 17% | 9% |
67% prefer their primary barbell to have a center knurl on it. That is up 12% from last year.
Many More Want Aggressive Barbell in 2022 vs. 2023.
- With 58% of total votes, most want their barbell to include an “aggressive knurl.” That is up 65% from 2022 & one of the larger changes in data that we’ve seen year over year.
- “As aggressive as possible” votes were up 177% as well. That went from 5% to 13% this year.
