A lot of survey results are posted each week, and it’s understandable that many of them are missed or simply scanned.
In case you missed it, here are ten noteworthy/interesting survey results that were answered by the home gym community in the first half of 2023.
1. While there are a number of high-level adjustable benches hitting the market like the AB-5200 2.0, Blackwing, and Manta Ray, only 11% say they expect to pay over $500 for an adjustable bench.
2. When buying gym equipment only 4% voted that it was “Almost Essential” to buy gym equipment made in your country. About 6% voted “Almost Essential” to buy from the original creator/inventor. While the creator/inventor received a bit more essential votes, the overall proportion is very low (view additional analysis).
3. Barbell ownership is on the rise. Of those answering these survey questions, those owning “4 or More” is up to nearly 35% from 22% in 2022. It’s one of the easiest ways to add variety to your home gym without taking up too much space (view reasons for owning multiple barbells).
4. Pulley Systems are likely the hottest rack attachment right now. When asked about what’s most appealing between a pulley system, jammer arms, landmines, or belt squats – nearly 57% said a pulley system was the most.
5. The Safety Squat Bar continues to be the most popular specialty bar among this home gym crowd.
& the REP Open Trap Bar seems to be the most popular individual option.
6. REP beat out Rogue, Titan & Bells of Steel when asking, “with cost in mind, who are you most likely to fill an entire home gym with?” 45% of total votes went to REP with Rogue receiving 36%.
7. 71% are more likely to buy something from gym equipment companies that support the community, like HomeGymCon, giveaways with content creators, or the Garage Gym Competition.
8 The “Price of Obtaining More Equipment” continues to be the number one issue most home gym owners face. It is relatively closely followed by “lack of space.” – view additional analysis
9 Back in February – we asked for your predictions on Bulletproof Fitness. At the time, only 12% said they’d be a future force, and another 37% said they’d create a few good products. 35% did not know who BF was. This will be a good one to follow up on towards the end of the year.
10. The chart below saying what people think will end up being “fads” is fascinating. You can take a look below, but the carnivore diet, body tempering, and flywheel training are at the top of the list right now (view additional analysis).
