Garage Gym Reviewer Life with Gluck

*We are a bit behind on our “podcast follow up blog posts” but are quickly catching up! As a heads up, this podcast was released about a month ago.

Intro

We chat with Gluck about his favorite items to review, which bench he’s choosing, favorite intros, #1 on the wish list, and much more about living that garage gym reviewer life. The episode can be listened to on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts.

(0:08) Favorite Items to Review

Gluck’s gym is known for the reviews and content that he puts out, so what are his favorite items to review? They aren’t barbells. Adrian shares that he likes the ‘out-of-the-box reviews. As he states it, ‘things that challenge him and that are different. Examples would be his recent review of the boxing workout package, Fight Camp. Another thing he references that has since come out is his review of VR workouts.

(3:34) Home Gym Remodeling

After 42 canned lights, Gluck was able to ‘finish’ (not really, because a home gym is never finished) his major remodel jobs in time for his latest and greatest home gym walkthrough. Minus a few small areas, his remodel is as complete as it will get. If you don’t count the 3rd bay of his garage, which his wife has made a deal with him, he can’t use it as part of the gym until he is doing Gluck’s Gym full time. Spoiler alert: he has recently moved into that area with his new Rogue rack purchase. Some rules are meant to be broken.

(5:35) If You Could Only Have 1 Bench…

In a fantasy scenario, Adrian shares that his ultimate bench would be the Rogue AB 3.0 bench with the REP vinyl. With the existing benches, Gluck says that he would keep the REP AB 5200 even though he would then be at odds with his wife who prefers the newer AB 4100. His recommendation to the masses is the AB 4100 with keeping the price in mind.

(8:22) $2,000 to start a home gym. What are you going with?

With $2,000 Adrian would build a gym with the following items: Titan T3 rack, Titan economy Olympic barbell or Bells of Steel Barenaked power bar, collars, REP Old School Iron plates, REP AB 3100 bench, Titan DB handles, and $200 to spend on rings or anything else that fits your needs.

(14:37) What’s your favorite intro you’ve ever done?

Gluck’s wife writes the intros to the videos as he is scrambling to get everything prepped for the release of the video, so because of the timing, he is not a fan of the intros. In fact, he hates them. They have turned into fan favorites so he is now stuck doing them. His favorites are ones that he gets to do with his wife and son.

(16:43) What’s the #1 item on your wish list to review, but you can’t quite pull the trigger?

Big surprise here, Gluck goes with another bench! He is a fan of the Irwin Fitness metal finishes that he puts on the equipment he releases, and being that Adrian is a bench guy he has been eyeing them. The shipping from Canada (over $500 for the shipping) is a bump in the road. Secondary, Gluck answers the Rogue Rhino.

Jake was able to jump in on this question as well and he went with the Kabuki Power Bar. The bar is a well-liked by some really strong lifters, but it is also almost double the price of some other power bars out there.

(19:14) You are full-out hustling right now with two jobs. What’s something on the home gym side of things you wish you had more time for?

With being so busy with teaching, reviewing, and getting content out weekly, Gluck says that he wished he had more time to really enjoy it. He says that with more time he would be able to enjoy his actual gym (the space) and the channel more if he weren’t so busy with work, being a dad and a husband, squeezing in workouts and staying up late nights to produce the content.

(21:23) Lastly, are there any projects you are currently working on or excited about that you can share with us?

Gluck shares that he has new toys coming which he will be able to share, and they will be stored and used in the forbidden 3rd bay. One really cool idea that Gluck has and wants to do in the future is to highlight the smaller companies that don’t get a lot of love from the content creators. Jake shares that sentiment as well.
