Force USA GHD
Without question, a GHD for the home gym is a luxury for those with a little more space than most. You don’t see them within most home gyms because of their size. However, it can be a game-changer for those that have room for one. A dedicated space to work on the core, lower back, glutes, and hamstrings is nice to have. This Force USA GHD is a highly recommended option for those interested in one. It includes:
- With wheels on the back, it can easily be transported from one part of the gym to the next.
- This unit is extremely easy to adjust. You simply pull and move the knobs to adjust for those with different heights or another exercise.
- The GHD takes up about 1 horse stall mat. If space is tight, that’s quite a bit of room to give up.
- There are no concerns about its durability, especially within a home gym environment. It has a 1,300 lbs weight rating and is extremely stable. There is no rocking when using.
- The current price was just lowered to $529, which is priced extremely competitively.
Warm up your Barbells with Thermabell
One of the most difficult things a home gym owner has to deal with is working out in the cold. It may sometimes be easy to get yourself going and warmed up, but that barbell? The barbell will sting and most likely will be tough to hold throughout—many end up using gloves or ignoring the bar completely.
Here is some help! The Barbell Warmer from Thermabell is an electrically heated sleeve that wraps around the barbell to warm it up while not in use. Here are some notes:
- In general, the Thermabell is pretty easy to put on and fits 25-29 mm barbells. It’s a tight squeeze for those power bars.
- The power cord is 13 feet, which is pretty long. Therefore there is some flexibility to where your power chord is.
- The barbell gets extremely warm. You’ll most likely need to let it cool for a few minutes before using it.
- The max temperature is 105 degrees Fahrenheit, and there are 6, 12, and 24-hour settings, so you can lift whenever ready.
- Depending on how cold your barbell is to start, it typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour to warm.
- It’s not cheap. At $154.99, is this worth it? To many that spend much of the year with a cold barbell, where their workouts suffer, it’s definitely an option they should consider. The Promo Code GARAGE will save you $10.
Bells of Steel Open Trap Bar – In Stock Now
An open trap bar is an awesome toy to have in a home gym. Not only do they have a built-in deadlift jack for easy loading, but are much more versatile than a traditional closed-off trap bar. The open-ended frame allows for lunges, Romanian deadlifts, split squats, weighted carries, and other exercises to be done easily. The most basic (and cost-effective) open trap bar on the market is from Bells of Steel. At just $249 + free shipping, this is a toy that many should consider.
- With minor maintenance, the black zinc finish has held up well over time.
- The built-in deadlift jack is easy to operate and does save quite a bit of time loading/unloading.
- Medium knurl that is easy to grip on both high and low handles
- The biggest question for most is the sleeve length. It is just 9.72 inches, however, you can see below 6 iron plates fit in on each side. There are other options (at least 2x the price) available from other places like Kabuki Strength and Prime Fitness that have a higher load capacity.
- It’s rarely in stock, but it is right now. Check it out here.
