Grip + Torpedo = Gripedo

For anyone looking to improve their grip strength, this is an item that should be on the top of their list. Whether it’s for general training, powerlifting, jiu-jitsu, baseball, or any other sport, the Gripedo Trainer helps train your hand, forearm, and even finger strength, which will ultimately help performance. This item was originally supposed to be a rehabilitation device but has grown to be useful for a number of different type of athletes because grip strength is so important in many different sports and exercise routines.

Grip + Torpedo = Gripedo! The tool is lightweight so it can be easily transported but is solidly constructed and you shouldn’t worry about damaging the product.

The torpedo-shaped pipe can be used in a number of different ways and you can quickly develop a love/hate relationship with it. One way is by easily slipping it on to a barbell, attaching some weight, and rolling it up with your hands. You can use just about anything as the weight like a dumbbell, kettlebell, or weight plate. It can be connected by a rope, resistance band, or any “string-shaped” object. There is a tiny hole where you can lace through a string. With multiple grip options, there is a variety of different ways the “roll up” can be performed.

Another common exercise is to twist it in sand – aka Sand Screwdrivers. The burn that you can get while performing this can be brutal and can come out of nowhere! One second, it’s easy, and the next, it’s not. To perform this exercise, simply twist the 4 inch diameter “ball-like handle” at the top which is 4 inches in diameter.

It can also be used for exercises like farmer carries, sled pulls, pull-ups,  several types of squats, or you can just hold it out in front of you. There is a hook and splint that allows you to attach the weight. A list of exercises is here but the best way to learn how to use this is probably to scroll down their Instagram Page.

The Gripedo is something that takes up very little space and it’s “handy” to be able to work on your grip at any time if you own one in your home. By doing this a few minutes a day, there is the potential to greatly improve your strength in this area. It’s also a nice “burnout” at the end of a workout.

Dumbbells, Kettlebells, and Weight Plates are all options to increase the tension

At $129, the Gripedo is only for those who are extremely serious about improving their grip strength. Current athletes where their sport requires a good grip (think baseball, jiu-jitsu) are at the top of the list. It’s an easy decision for them and a great addition to add to their larger facilities. While all home gym owners could benefit from this tool, the price would probably need to come down a bit for most to be interested. It’s a piece of equipment for those very serious about improving their grip strength. Nevertheless, if your grip is a weakness, this is a tool that you should think about investing in.

In conclusion, whether you are trying to improve your grip for deadlifts or jiu-jitsu, this is a tool that you should consider. It’s a versatile tool and there are multiple options to help with your grip strength.
