This is your basic squat rack with a pull-up bar. It will get the job done for most of the population and is an incredible value.
Who is this for? Home gym owners that have a limited budget, not a ton of space, but need a spot to squat, bench, and do pull-ups. So, a lot of people…
Who is this not for? Someone really really strong. If you are consistently squatting over 500 pounds, then you should upgrade.
First of all, it was sent across the country quickly and the shipping was free! Therefore, the total cost of this squat rack is only going to be $249, a price that is very tough to beat. There truly might not be a better option at this price out there. It was also very simple to put together and many could do it by themselves. It’s probably best to have two people present though, primarily because of the pull-up bar.
The overall footprint of the rack is pretty small. It’s just about 4’x4′ so it’s not going to take up as much space as a power rack. It’s lightweight, weighing about 80 pounds and pretty durable. It’s very easy to move around from spot to spot. It is just over 7 feet tall, so it’s perfect for this 8 feet tall garage as seen in the pictures. Many of the other racks with pull up bars out there are too tall for an 8 foot garage.
This rack was never bolted down, so there was some wobble when doing pull-ups or re-racking with heavier weight, but it was never much of an issue. There are a few weight pins on the back to add weight, which helps the stability and doubles as plate storage!
The height of the rack is just under 85 inches tall, so this may be an issue for taller individuals. For someone 6 foot 2, pull-ups need to be done with the knees up, but that’s not an issue for many others. Regardless, the bar at the top helps to stabilize the entire rack. The bar is nice though. The powder coat finish is easy to grip and is not going to rip up your hands.
A few more important features:
- The 2″ x 3″ uprights and 5/8″ hole diameter are also important features to note. You are able to add spotter arms, a dip station, j cups, and it matches many of the other accessories from other companies since these features are industry standards.
- Westside spacing
- Heavy duty J-cups included
Overall, this is without question, one of the better budget squat racks on the market, if not the best for $249. It’s sturdy, doesn’t take up much space, and is extremely versatile. Fringe does an excellent job catering to the home gym market with this one and it would make a good addition to just about any garage, basement, or other room in your home.
