Sharpie your Bumper Plates

Sometimes the paint on the lettering of your bumper plates begins to wear off after they’ve been used for a while. Or, if you want to save a little bit of money, you purchase the most basic type (see below). This leads to a bland bumper plate. WOOF. Well, it’s not the end of the world, but…..

GOOD NEWS! There is an easy and inexpensive way to liven these up a bit. All you need to do is add is color the lettering with Sharpie Oil Based Paint Markers. The five-pack below was purchased for just under $10. These are quick to dry but are “oil-based” ink. It’s important to note that these are not just standard Sharpie Markers.

It depends on how much space you want to cover, but this example took about 30 minutes and a couple of layers to ensure the lettering was fully covered (front and back were completed).

If you are looking for a cheap and easy way to spruce up your bumper plates, this is a great way. It makes a great weekend project!
